Modeling Jobs Made Easy - Child Models, Body Parts, Plus Size and More

The glamour that surrounds those bronzed lean bodies is probably the first thing that people think of when you hear the word model. To be a model seems like such a far off aspiration for some and actually getting into the business might be almost impossible, Right? Wrong! Modeling is not as glamorous as it seems to be and starting out as a model doing any kind of modeling is also quite simple if you know where and how to start.

Starting out as a model, most people would expect that you have to have a very skinny frame and pretty face. This is just not true and being a model nowadays can require that you be plump, large boned, tall, short, athletic, have sharp feature, cute features, short hair, long hair, or actually anything you can think of. You get various types of models that you can aspire to, which will still earn you the right to say you are a model and earn a great salary as well.

Find a Modeling Agency

So where do you actually begin? Well, the very first thing you will need to do is find a reputable agent. This agency should in fact be one of the top agencies in your area and you should either recognize the name or some of the models that are with them. These agencies are exclusive, yes, but to settle for anything less, might be hazardous to you and your career. Lots of unknown, new agencies are not legitimate you might get taken for a ride or even taken advantage of if you are not careful. While the well known agents are harder to get into, it is well worth it to have professional, excellent representation.

To make it into a modeling agency, you must go there with the intention of modeling. If you go just to "find out more" or to "do something for fun, part time" you will not get the good jobs that you deserve. Go with your positive and charismatic attitude in check. Take along a portfolio if you have one and some photos as long as they are done by a professional. Most of the time, agents will be able to know if you will be good, just by looking at you and they will send you for headshots and other photos with their own photographer.

When you visit an agent, do not overdo the makeup and don't over dress either. Be yourself and look natural. Your natural beauty is far more appealing and don't worry, agents are experts at picking the perfect people no matter how drab you think you may look. If you are going to a modeling agency to be a hand model or hair model, you should go prepared to show off your chosen assets. Make sure you have your hands perfectly manicured and your hair should be professionally cut and conditioned well before your interview. If they like you, you will pretty much start getting work right away.

Models in a local agency can get work for anything from magazine inserts to catalogues for clothing and department stores; they can work on film sets and be chosen to do range showing work. Range showing is where you model various designers' clothing ranges for buyers. These buyers come from all the major stores come to view to choose what they want in their stores. For this work you will get paid quite well and the work is consistent.

Types of Modeling Jobs

Starting off as a body parts model, you will get quite a lot of work doing films and commercials for TV as well as magazine and advertising photography work. You get paid a decent salary as a body parts model and you have to always make sure that your asset is well taken care of.

Ramp modeling is part of any modeling career and if you are within a certain height range, you can be chosen as a ramp model for live fashion shows and other events. This is your ticket into working as an international model and many girls also go into beauty pageants from here. This part of modeling is very hard. You work long hours on your feet. Often times you are uncomfortable and have to perform calmly despite the pressures and stresses that might go on backstage.

Most models start from the age of 14 or 15 as pre teens and adults, but you also get child models who usually get an agent from the age of 3 upwards. There are strict rules and regulations in place for children on shoots regarding hours and rest sessions, so if you have a good agent you have nothing to worry about. These modeling sessions are usually for photo clothing catalogues or TV commercials.

There are many different kinds of modeling jobs and not all of them require traditional good looks and a tight body. To break into the modeling industry, as a model, make-up artist, or photographer, it's important to understand how the business works and what the job requirements are. Freelance writer Lisa Jenkins shares what she knows on the free website: JobMonkey. She describes different types of jobs in the industry such as child modeling, photography, and agency positions. There are also many tips for job seekers.

What is Structural Equation Modeling?

Have you come across this term in some of your educational assignments? Structural equation modeling is a statistical technique that is used for testing and estimating causal relationships. Scientifically speaking, it is a combination of statistical data and qualitative causal assumptions. Because of the nature of structural equation modeling, it befits confirmatory modeling as opposed to exploratory modeling. In plain English, this means that this technique is used for testing theories rather than creating theories.

You might be confronted with this technique if you are a college student preparing your dissertation. Dissertations can be very complex and yet students do not always have teachers available for individual assistance. Therefore, some students seek out online research companies for help on structural equation modeling as well as other statistical or observational information, such as path analysis overview or exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis.

This is an ethical practice because students are not paying someone to write their dissertation for them. They are merely getting assistance in the research end of the paper. Therefore, they can draw their own conclusions after being given statistical examples. Dissertations are required documents that students must complete before receiving a college degree. If you need help with statistical research but have no personal authority to consult, where can you turn?

Visit SEM Consulting. This research company is staffed by doctorate level educators and professionals who have had experience in writing dissertations. When it comes to writing such a complex assignment, you need someone you can trust and someone that has taken the same path in their education. This is the offer that SEM Consulting makes to new students facing the educational challenge of their lives. For more information on structural equation modeling, as well as other collegial assistance in researching, visit the company's website at Sem-Consult.com.

SEM Consulting has been helping students and business executives complete their dissertations or projects for over 15 years. If you are in need of structural equation modeling assistance, visit SEM-Consult.com.

3D Modeling

3D model is basically from three dimensional images. 3D models are frequently developed by software applications. And also 3D models are broadly used in 3d graphics. Geometric mesh of triangles or polygons is illustrated by 3Dmodels but it’s under the control of 3D space. 3D modelers are used to develop the model through 3D mesh. Mesh use to alter their decision according to users. Models can be suggested in diversity of angles simultaneously. 3D modelers are interrelated to ray tracers.

Variety of 3D modeling:

3D modeling contains various types: They are

3D studio max:

3ds Max is generally made on 3ds graphics application. 3ds max is created by AutoDesk media and entertainment. 3ds max is the 9th version generation. Its can activate on window 32 and windows 64. 3ds max is frequently based on 3D animation programs. 3ds max contains strong and good capacity its movable plugin architecture on the Microsoft window platform. It’s frequently used on video games developers. 3ds max mostly used on movies.

Cheetah 3D:

Cheetah 3d is one of the types of computer graphics and 3D modeling. And also its takes place in animation and rendering. Cheetah 3ds is user friendly. Cheetah 3ds is mostly aim in part time artists. Cheetah 3ds is many used in professionals. Cheetah 3ds is have a various types of geometric primitives and also contains polygon meshes and bezier curves. Antialising, raytraced shadows, depth of field, HDRI lighting, soft shadowing and photo-mapped are used in cheetah 3ds.

Cinema 4D:

Cinema 4D is based on commercial platform which is high-end in 3D graphics. It is able to procedural and polygon modeling, animating, lighting, texturing and rendering. Cinema 4D is an admired in 3d application among action graphics. Cinema 4D is a runtime programming and scripting language. It has four different packages released by MAXON; cinema 4D applications are XL bundle, the studio bundle that includes modules and production bundle which indicates a service contract. Linux version is available in cinema 4D.

Modo:

Modo is a type of polygon and it’s an advanced polygon. Modo is one of the modeling packages are created by luxology. The program features are edge weighting and program run on Mac OSX and Microsoft windows platforms.

Rhinoceros 3D:

Rhinoceros 3D is an individual. It’s typically based on modeling tool. Rhinoceros 3D is from AutoDesk’s AutoCAD software. This software is mainly used for industrial design, architecture, Marine design, jewelry design, automotive design, CAD/CAM fast prototyping, reverse engineering and graphic design. Rhino 3D frequently used in scripting language called Rhinoscript and also its commonly based on visual basic program.

Alias:

Animator and poweranimator is also simply called as “Alias” its use to established Maya and studiotools. Alias is an expensive, difficult, highly used industrial 3D modeling, animation and visual effects suite. Alias is commonly used on visual effects and animation industries.

Maya:

Scale Modeling Anyone?

I had my first model when I was around 10 or 11. It was Sherman tank. During those days, most toys were remote control but later on did I realize that instead of playing with them like any other toy, it is best to just display it on your shelf or cabinet.

The truth is scale models are not for kids. These are meant for people to collect just like stamps or coins. There are so many brands around and these kits vary depending on the person's skill level.

One thing you will notice about these kits is that it never comes with the glue or the paint necessary to make it look like the one in the picture of the box. If you want to make it realistic, you have to buy these separately then study photos which you can download from the web or browse through some scale modeling magazines and then try to make something similar.

But if you don't want to put it together, there is another thing you can do. You can buy die cast assembled kits. When you buy them from the store, you might have to put a few of these pieces together simply because it will not fit in the box. A very good example is the helicopter since the rotor blades will stick out if this is packaged in the box.

AXMIN Inc.: Komahun Project, Sierra Leone Resource Update Significant Increase in Grade and Ounces

TORONTO, ONTARIO, Sep 18, 2008 (MARKET WIRE via COMTEX) -- AXMIN Inc. (CA:AXM: news, chart, profile) is pleased to report significant increase in mineral resource ounces and grade at the Komahun Gold Project, Nimini Hills JV, Sierra Leone. In addition for the first time the mineral resource estimate includes an Indicated Mineral Resource of 370,000 tonnes grading 9.1 g/t Au (110,000 ounces) and an Inferred Mineral Resource of 3.1 million tonnes grading 4.3 g/t Au (435,000 ounces). This compares to the previous Inferred Mineral Resource estimate of 4.9 million tonnes grading 2.5 g/t Au (392,000 ounces) (press release October 5, 2006).
Mario Caron, President and Chief Executive Officer comments "The increase in both global resources and in particular the grade at Komahun will have a significant impact on the potential for future development as an underground mining project. Development should also be facilitated by mineralised widths which mostly range from 2.5 to 7 metres and the steep surface topography which can be beneficial for easy access by adit and decline. AXMIN has initiated a third party scoping study that will investigate production levels in the range of 60,000 to 80,000 ounces per annum and in addition will help to guide the next round of exploration."
The mineral resource estimate has utilized all drilling to date totaling 168 core holes, for a total of 22,370 metres. The bulk of the resource lies within the central 300 metres strike length of the Komahun structure where modeling has been taken to depths of up to 400 metres from surface. To view the Geology and Collar Plan of the Komahun Project, please visit the following link: http://media3.marketwire.com/docs/axminb.jpg.
In this central zone, the mineralisation occurs within three sub-vertical structures with modeled widths ranging from 1.5 to 12 metres, but typically within the range of 2.5 to 7 metres and is open at depth. Gold is associated with quartz-sulphide veins and disseminated sulphides within a 50 metre wide, northeast-southwest trending shear zone located predominantly in Archaean age amphibolites, banded ironstones and talc schists. Correlation of the sub-vertical lithologies is facilitated by the thin banded ironstone units that form well defined markers. Mineralisation is sub-parallel to lithology and consists of predominantly unweathered sulphide material. Preliminary metallurgical testwork on the sulphide mineralisation suggests that recovery levels in excess of 90% may be achievable (see press release August 27, 2007).
The in situ mineral resource estimate at a plus 1.8 g/t Au cut off was undertaken by independent consultant, SRK Consulting (UK) Ltd ("SRK"), using robust three dimensional interpretations with grade interpolation carried out using Ordinary Kriging. The cut off grade reflects modeling parameters suitable for underground mining. The estimates have been prepared under the guidelines of National Instrument 43-101 and accompanying documents 43-101.F1 and 43-101.CP.

Can modeling of HIV treatment processes improve outcomes? Capitalizing on an operations research approach to the global pandemic.

Purpose: Mathematical modeling has been applied to a range of policy-level decisions on resource allocation for HIV care and treatment. We describe the application of classic operations research techniques to address logistical and resource management challenges in HIV treatment scale-up activities in resource-limited countries.

Methods: We review and categorize several of the major logistical and operational problems encountered over the last decade in the global scale-up of HIV care and antiretroviral treatment for people with AIDS.

While there are unique features of HIV care and treatment that pose significant challenges to effective modeling and service improvement, we identify several analogous OR-based solutions that have been developed in the service, industrial, and health sectors.

Results: HIV treatment scale-up includes many processes that are amenable to mathematical and simulation modeling, including forecasting future demand for services; locating and sizing facilities for maximal efficiency; and determining optimal staffing levels at clinical centers. Optimization of clinical and logistical processes through modeling may improve outcomes, but successful OR-based interventions will require contextualization of response strategies, including appreciation of both existing health care systems and limitations in local health workforces.

Conclusions: The modeling techniques developed in the engineering field of operations research have wide potential application to the variety of logistical problems encountered in HIV treatment scale-up in resource-limited settings. Increasing the number of cross-disciplinary collaborations between engineering and public health will help speed the appropriate development and application of these tools.

Radio Control Areo Modeling

Aero-modeling has been around since man first starting putting the dreams of flight into practice. This is one of the most exciting and enjoyable hobbies in existence, encompassing so many different aspects.

The hobby involves fresh air outdoor activity as well as aerodynamics, drafting, electronics, mechanics, working with wood and composite materials including the required skills and components that make all these work together. Joining a local club will also bring new friends and fellowship. National Model associations in almost every country around the world are operated by volunteers, yet another venue of participation. It is not a hobby where boredom will show up for many years, if ever in a lifetime. Areo-modeling attracts a remarkable diverse following. People from all walks of life enjoy this exciting hobby.

Each new model tackled is a whole different animal than the last. Requiring the learning of new building, set up, maintenance and flying techniques. The possibilities are endless with the countless types of kits, plans, ARF kits of airplanes, helicopters, gliders, free flight models and rockets available for purchase. Or for those so inclined, create and build your own design.

Model Aircraft are not just toys. The model is a real aircraft that operates in the same air and by the same aerodynamic principles as its full size counter part. The only difference is size and weight. Just like there bigger brothers they require a learned skill set to be operated properly and safely.

With the advancements recently in technology it is now possible to build and fly a radio control model with a power system matched to the model. Example, Micro Turbines are now available for jet models as well as turbine powered helicopters and prop turbines. Miniature gas radial engines are being produced for the exact look and sound of the ww2 era.

Competition is also a large part of this hobby. For those so inclined there is world competitions held on a regular basis for almost all disciplines. Records are verified by the F.A.I. which is the recognized keeper of all things aerospace related in the world.

There is something for every one in this exciting and diversified Hobby.

Hope to see you on the flightline.

More Modeling Tips For Teenagers

So you want to become a teen model? Well you have come to the right place, to find out a bit on what you need to know.

Despite the stereotypes, breaking into the modeling industry requires a lot more than beauty. It requires dedication, smarts and perseverance. First and foremost is to realize how difficult it is to become a top fashion model in such a competitive industry. Millions chase the dream but only a handful actually make it as top fashion models. However, many people succeed as part-time models and enjoy an exhilarating life of being paid for fashion, tv, movies and much more...

There are several different types and levels of modeling, and if your expectations are realistic, you Needn't feel discouraged. There are different kinds of models such as child models, tall runway models seen in fashion shows, plus size models who are a size 10 and above and body parts models whose hands you might see in a diamond ring ad on a billboard.

The list goes on but the first thing you have to do is look at yourself, be honest and see where you qualify. Look at models in magazines like Vogue & Elle and see how you measure up.

Starting a Modeling Career.

Important Tips:

Yes, modeling is all about the right look but the what really determines wether a model is successful or not is what we call The 4 D's - Desire, Dedication, Determination and Devotion. There is so much competition in the business that every job usually has hundreds of applicants and models that show professionalism and reliability usually end up on top.

Here are a few tips you should remember.

1. Always show up early unlike a regular job as a model your job will most likely be in a different location each time, so always be prepared for traffic, getting lost or looking for parking.

2. Always be available the last thing you want as a model is to miss out on job opportunities because you missed a call, so always make sure you return calls promptly and that your agency and clients have your cell phone number.

3. Always be Professional most people think modeling is a laid back and easy going profession when is actually the opposite. From the moment you show up, pay attention, act professional so people will enjoy working with you, and offer you more work.If you are going on an audition or casting call do not bring friends, children or parents (unless you are under 18) because most agencies will not accept it. However for safety reasons, if you are unsure about the company or person you are going to see, we advise you bring someone.

4. Be Yourself always be yourself, relax and be comfortable because it all ends up showing when you get in front of the camera. Being yourself also means being honest when asked questions or asked for your opinions. Do not be intimidated or pressured into doing something you are not comfortable with, for example if you are not comfortable with nudes or implied nudity do not do it to please the photographer, simply say no.

The 4 Steps to Starting Modeling:

Step 1. Do Some Reading we highly recommend that you do some research by reading about the modeling industry so you can be aware of the way the industry works, the scams and also to better prepare yourself to get involved

Step 2. Build a Portfolio you are going to need some professional photos other than the snap shots you have to build your portfolio. Do not spend hundreds of dollars on this, instead ask photographers for test shoots, get involved in modeling shows, or volunteer to model for a college photo class. Collect all the photos you get and put at least ten good shots into a nice portfolio binder, now you have something to show agencies and clients. The more photo shoots you do the more experience you get.

Remember the modeling business is very competitive and there will always be someone who is taller, prettier and in better shape than you, so keep a positive attitude, learn to deal with rejection and you will do just fine. Also remember you cannot buy a modeling career so beware of people who will try to sell you your dream with expensive portfolios, photo shoots and pointless modeling classes.

It is obvious that you are determined to become a model because you have read this far and that is a great sign. Remember it is all about your attitude, knowing your role and exposing yourself to the right people.

Please remember that no single person can claim to be an expert on the modeling industry, it is way too dynamic therefore some people may have different views or opinions on our information. We have simply gathered this information from different reliable sources and our own personal experience to benefit you.

So good luck with your dreams of becoming a teen model and remember all you need is 4 D's.

Chariot updates Mina Justa resource model

Toronto-based Chariot Resources has published an updated resource model for its Mina Justa project, in Peru, comprising measured and indicated resources of 5,57-billion pounds of copper at a 0,3% total copper cut-off, and inferred resources of 1,19-billion pounds.

The new numbers compare with a 2006 resource estimate of 5,42-billion pounds of measured and indicated resources and 1,69-billion pounds inferred.

"Although on the surface the global numbers are similar, at the model level there are differences between the 2006 version and 2008 version as our emphasis in 2007 was to update our geological interpretations, and to improve the modeling of controls of the mineralisation as well as to focus on improving grades,” president and CEO Ulli Rath said in a statement.

Indicated tons, at 331,6-million, now comprise 80% of the total tons, compared with 73% in the 2006 estimate, the company pointed out.

Further, the grade of the indicated resource has increased by about 7%, to 0,76%, while the grade of the inferred resource has increased by some 11,7%.

"It should be kept in mind that much of our drilling in 2007 was infill drilling, which has now given us more confidence in the resource base,” Rath added.

When drilling was halted in December 2007, the deposit still appeared to be open in at least two directions.

The company has drilled an additional 258 holes since then, although the assay data from these holes were not available in time to be included in the new resource model.

Chariot was now working on completing a mine-planning model, which was taking longer than expected, Rath said in a statement on Wednesday.

The firm expects to have completed the model by the end of July, with the final mine plan, production schedule and capital and operating costs scheduled for completion by September.

If this timetable is met, the feasibility study on Mina Justa, which has been pushed forward a number of times, in order to account for the project's expanding resources, could be released early in the fourth quarter, Chariot said.

The project, which was the first 300-million-ton-plus copper discovery in South America's Cordillera region in over a decade, could produce up to 240-million pounds of copper a year, Rath said in January.

Chariot Resources and its joint-venture partners, Korea Resources Corporation (owned by the Korean government) and LS-Nikko Copper, bought the Marcona property, on which Mina Justa sits, from diversified-miner Rio Tinto in 2005.

How to Work in Promotional Modeling

No jobs for supermodels

Good looks are essential, however not the same kind of looks as for fashion modeling. The needs of clients that book models for this kind of work are completely different from a magazine client for example that looks good in a beauty advertorial. Promo girls must be able to look good for long days without the help of makeup artists and retouching! A promotional model must be almost 'conventionally' good looking, i.e. the general public would consider the promo girl to be attractive or even gorgeous as opposed to the looks of some fashion models which can be more of an acquired taste and sometimes downright weird!

What clients want

The aim of most clients that hire a promo model is to promote a healthy, successful and friendly image from their promotional models thus attracting the right kind of attention to their firm. A personable manner is essential as promotional models must be able to mix with people without nerves. Also, good manners and a clear speech pattern are credited as it is vital that a promo model represents a company professionally at all times.

A Career in Modeling - Fashion

Do you dream about a career in modeling? Don’t give up! Your dream can come true, and you too can become a professional fashion model. The lessons learned as a professional model are invaluable. Why is it, you may ask? “Being a model is not just something you do on the runway, but it is a personality that you carry throughout your life.”

No matter what age you enter into this career, you will be able to walk away learning something new that can help you for the rest of your life. If you are a young unmarried person looking for a mate, you will have a good idea of how the right person should treat you. If you are a married person, you will learn how to better take care of yourself and your mate. Someone once said, “You cannot make someone happy unless you are happy yourself.” People need to know that happiness starts from within and extends outward. If you are fulfilled in all areas of your life, you will be happy.

The charm and poise section of the modeling training will give you the confidence you need to make life complete. It will also help you to overcome low self-esteem, if you are struggling with this problem. You will be able to see yourself as a special person. More important, you will begin to feel good about yourself.

A career in modeling takes hard work, dedication and commitment to succeed in the business. The categories you have to choose from are in runway, print and catalog, commercial, petite or plus size. Gryphon Gold 2008 Resource Model Update

Gryphon Gold Corporation (TSX: GGN)(OTCBB: GYPH) reports that its new CIM compliant NI 43-101 gold resource inventory for the Borealis property expands the gold resource by 704,000 ounces (comprised of 318,000 ounces of measured and indicated and 495,000 ounces of inferred resources) for a 39% increase over the January 2007 inventory. The increase is a result of both an improvement in the over all grade of the deposits and an increase in the total tonnage resulting from the successful 2007 drill program.

The gold resource inventory is now calculated to be 1,422,500 ounces of measured and indicated gold and 1,104,500 ounces of inferred gold versus 1,213,500 ounces of measured and indicated and 609,200 inferred as per the previous January 2007 calculation.

The new technical report will be filed with Canadian securities regulatory agencies on SEDAR and made available on the Company's website at www.gryphongold.com in early May, 2008. The assays for Gryphon Gold's drilling were prepared by Inspectorate America Corp. and American Assay Laboratories, both of Sparks, Nevada.

Dr. Roger C. Steininger, Consulting Geologist, is a Qualified Person as defined by NI 43-101 of the Canadian Securities Administrators and the principal author of the May 2008 NI 43-101 technical report. AMEC, a world leader in the provision of technical services, reviewed and audited the drill hole database used to develop the new resource. Modeling of the in situ resource was conducted by Steven F. Wolff, Mining Engineering Consultant and confirmed by Dr. Steininger, QP. Mr. Alan C. Noble, P.E. of Ore Reserves Engineering, a Qualified Person, modeled the stockpiled resource.

All of Gryphon Gold's drilling was logged (and all the relevant historic core and chips were re-logged) in detail to insure consistency in defining the geology and the alteration that is closely related to the gold mineralization. New oxidization boundaries were developed for each deposit and new grade boundary contours were constructed on cross sections throughout the deposits to assist in developing reliable resource estimates. A complete audit of the database was conducted to eliminate drill holes that may have down-hole contamination. These measures insure the quality of the characterization of these gold ounces.

The enhanced geological model of the Central Borealis deposits that Gryphon Gold's geologists have developed over the past three years is proving successful. It effectively identified areas of potential mineralization that were subsequently drilled and resulted in this significant expansion of the Central Borealis gold resource. Additionally, the enhanced resource model has identified areas where these resources are still open to expansion and it has indicated areas where additional higher-grade material is likely to be delineated.

An internal feasibility study incorporating the results of the new resource calculation is in progress and a report supporting the viability of a heap leach mine for the oxide portion of the Central Borealis resource is anticipated to be ready for release in July 2008.

ON BEHALF OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF GRYPHON GOLD CORPORATION

RC Modeling a Family Hobby

Once upon a time model planes were built with balsa and tissue paper. Boats were built with light weight wood. Models were built to sit and be admired or pretend played with. Boys and men enjoyed building these models but after they were made they were put on shelves to be looked at. Some planes were played with as light weight gliders but soon that just wasn't enough.

Ideas where beginning to be put into place to see if these planes could be made to do more. An engine was attached as was a string to tether the plane and with luck and perseverance the plane flew - for awhile. The drawback was that the plane flew in a circle as it could only go as far as the string allowed it to. This was also not enough for the hobbyist.

With the invention of servos and radio bands a form of remote control was developed. Now with an engine, radio control, and a plane we could fly without being attached to anything. We had free flight. A boat could be operated from the shore while the boat was out on the water and doing maneuvers. Cars and trucks could be made to do different things as well and tanks could shoot BBs, smoke, and the turrets move. Models were coming out of the dark ages. Cars, trucks, boats, airplanes and helicopters previously powered and operated by imagination were now able to be operated from afar.

Today the world of remote control modeling has opened to electric motors. Planes have progressed to being able to fly in back yards, football fields and parks. They are small, compact and clean - no fuel mess to clean up.

The fuel motors were larger and the servos were bigger. All this added weight to the aircraft. Work was done to shrink the size and weight of the servos to make a lighter aircraft. Today the nano and mini servos have enabled the electric motor to become the motor of the future. The Backyard Flyer is a product of this technology. Work is now being continued to make the small servo capabilities even better. In the near future planes will be larger and still use the electric motor with the small more powerful servos and add a whole new era to the fun of model airplane flight.

Planes, boats, helicopters, just about any toy or model can be made to do something. New technology is being made available every day. This makes RC Modeling a fun hobby for the whole family.

Modeling - A platform for Bollywood

What do Aishwarya Rai, Juhi Chawla, Arjun Rampal ,Sushmita Sen, Diya Mirza, Lara Dutta, Bipasha Basu, Dino Morea, Shiny Ahuja, John Abraham, Celina Jailtley and Priyanka Chopra have in common apart from their killer looks and awesome bodies? Yes, they shared one platform namely, modeling. These model turned actors were highly successful in modeling before stepping into the world of bollywood. Many actors believe that modeling gives them a stable foundation to be recognized before getting their first break in bollywood. Most of these stars believed that modeling is a stepping stone to bollywood. Without entering into the world of modeling, their life would take a very different turn by making their entry into bollywood more difficult and inaccessible.

Most model turned actors stepped into modeling by catching our attention in beauty pageants. Who can forget Sushmita Sen and Aishwarya Rai sashay down the ramp after winning their titles? No one. These beauty queens inspired millions of Indians who watched them and wanted to be like them in every manner. Young girls desired to look like them and take part in these beauty pageants. Mothers of teenaged daughters would pester their kids to dress well and push them forward for beauty pageants. With the advent of these exotic beauties,

w:st="on">India was in for a beauty revolution. These strong willed beauty queens had no looking back . They reached their destination - Bollywood in no time.

With this instance, many young aspiring actors looked up to their role models to pursue their much sought after bollywood dream. Modeling is an arena more to do with beautiful personalities than fashion per say. No one is throwing dust one anyone's eyes here, as it is a well known fact that, clothes look good on a beautiful body rather than on someone ill-proportionate. Beauty is all over the place and looking uniquely gorgeous is the mantra for models. These stars surely had what it took to be a Hindi film star and yes, they did it with style.

It is well known preconceived notion that models can't act. There were many instances when models were criticized heavily and were shown the exit. However, over a period of failures, there were many of these same models who proved critics wrong. For instance, Aishwarya Rai was considered plasticky in her debut film Aur Pyar Ho Gaya but with time, she set by bollywood by storm in her stellar performances in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Devdas. John Abraham is another actor who has also won several accolades in his films like Jism, Dhoom and Taxi no.9211. Athough Shiny Ahuja is just 2 films old, his mind blowing performance in Hazaaron Khwaishye Aisi and Gangster has won him millions of fans.

Many young and upcoming actors like Samir Dattani believe that modeling provides them easy entry to Bollywood. Daisy Boppana of Garam Masala fame have been cast with extremely successful actors like Akshay Kumar and John Abraham. Katrina Kaif famous for ads campaigns like Seagram's, Lakme and Dyna have acted in films like Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya and Humko Deewana Kar Gaye cast opposite Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar. Models like Deepika Padukone and Shivani Kapur are the new entrants to Bollywood after a successful stint in modeling? What lies ahead, only time will tell. Watch this space for more.

Types of Modeling

OK, to quote Derek Zoolander, you're totally great-looking. So now what? Being a model means a lot more than just standing around looking beautiful. To be happy and successful in your chosen career, you need to find the specific type of modeling that's right for you.

If you are going to make it as a model, it's a good idea to familiarize yourself with the following types of modeling work:

Runway Modeling

Without a doubt, high fashion runway modeling is one the most glamorous (and rigorous) types of modeling. Runway models generally possess a very particular body type (long legs, fierce walk) and have developed their own signature style of "working the catwalk". While you're likely to see crossover with other types of modeling, the runway model is a truly unique animal. Runway models begin their careers at local fashion shows - with the best of the best moving on to international events such as Fashion Week in New York - where models can earn thousands of dollars per runway event.

Quick tip for success: Watch footage of the greats! Take some time every day to watch footage of top models walking the runway. Study how they carry themselves. Use their established styles to help craft a walk that is unique and your own.

Commercial Print Modeling

If you have ever seen a 600+ page issue of Vogue, you have a good idea of why there is a constant demand for fashion print models. Simply put, there's almost no limit to the number of apparel companies spending large amounts of money on their print advertising campaigns. Successful print models not only master a variety of looks, but also have a wide range of emotions and body positions that can call up on a moment's notice as the job dictates. Print models are able to evoke strong emotions in two dimensions because of these skills.

Quick tip for success: A great portfolio goes a long way in the commercial print realm. Models who have a selection of beautiful and unique photographs at the ready are most likely to wow the client and get the job. Be sure and fill your book with photos that go beyond the standard head shot. Show your creativity!

Commercial Catalog Modeling

Catalog marketing affords the greatest opportunities for models of different heights and sizes. Since every store or clothing line appeals to a different demographic, the standards set by the rest of the modeling world are a bit more relaxed here. You still need to look and feel great, but there is a little less emphasis on the concept of perfection.

Quick tip for success: When creating a portfolio, base your chosen shots on powerful, effective catalog photography. Grab a stack of the best catalogs available. Then cut out the shots that you would like to create. Your portfolio should represent a "best of" compilation of shots in a variety of clothing styles and poses.

Swimsuit Models

Female swimsuit models are less likely to be the small-sized types that generally have success on the runway. In the swimsuit modeling world there is a greater emphasis on a woman's curves - with physical fitness being of the utmost importance. Men's swimsuit models are also asked to be in prime physical condition. Toned muscles and tight stomachs are the order of the day for men hoping to get the best available work as a swimsuit model. Many swimsuit models employ a personal trainer to stay in top condition throughout the year.

Modeling a Successful Model

Successful people have followed certain strategies or models to achieve successes. Whether they are athletes, who always perform at the highest level, or businessmen who own titan companies, or salesmen who always exceed their sales targets every month, what make them achieve all these successes?

For every outcome that is produced, it is a result of an action. To achieve success, one may need to take a lot of different actions so as to find out what is the best action that will produce the best outcome.

Everyone can achieve what they want if they find out what are the exact strategies or actions that successful role models of their desired industry did. By finding out what they did, and applying the same action, you will be able to produce similar results. It will save you the most precious asset of your life, which is time.

You will not need to spend the time on trial and error to find out the right action to take, if you model somebody who has already found it.

We have been subconsciously modeling people since we were young. When we are babies, we tend to model how our parents walked, and we transformed ourselves from the days of crawling to walking. If a child finds that his or her father is very righteous and responsible, the child will most probably adopt the same characteristics of his father when he or she grows up.

Therefore, modeling for excellence is the way to do it. Look for a role model who has achieved everything in your field of industry or interest, and model him or her now.

Modeling Good Speech Reduces the Need for Speech Therapy

Modeling back good speech is a powerful way to help children learn speech sounds and good grammar. In some cases it can even decrease the need for speech-language therapy.

For sounds:

  • When your child says a word and “misses” a sound say the word back to them in a very positive way placing emphasis on the sound that they had problems with. Place emphasis by saying the sound louder, longer, by tapping your finger on the side of your mouth when you say the sound and by repeating it. If he said “The tat is nice” you could say “Yes, that is a very nice cat. I like cats. I think the cat likes you. Look the cat has a brown foot.” By repeating the word several times you are adding power to the modeling. Of course you would never want to correct your child in a way that would make them feel bad about how they are talking. Saying “No that’s not the right sound. Say it this way, say cat.”, only makes your child feel bad about their talking.
  • Once your child has gotten fairly good at saying the sounds you could draw their attention to problem sounds a bit more by asking if they heard the right sound when they say a word. If he tried to say “spoon” and it came out “poon”, you could say, “Hmmm, I didn’t hear the snake (s) sound, did you? Lets try again.” Giving sounds labels such as “the snake sound” often helps younger children understand what you mean. Make sure to also point out times where your child has gotten sounds that he is working on right. Especially praise times where your child goes back and “fixes” sounds on his own.

Modeling Craft Ideas for Kids

The technique of modeling dough had its beginnings with the Classical Romans, Greeks and Egyptians when they would pay homage to their gods with offerings of figures made from dough. Later in nineteenth century Germany salt was added to stop mice eating the creations.

Today modeling is particularly suitable as a craft idea for kids of any age. It is soft, safe, non-toxic and great fun. Although the children can use polymer clay and self hardening clays salt dough clay is great fun to make.

You will need very little for this craft idea for kids and will probably have most of the items in your home. Items such as paint, varnish, pastry cutters, moulds, bowl and rolling pin will probably be enough. For the actual bread dough recipe you will need plain flour (not self-raising), salt and water.

Recipe:

2 cups plain flour
1 cup salt
1 cup water

Mix together flour, salt and half the water in the mixing bowl. Knead the mixture adding more water gradually until it is smooth and firm. Do not add too much water as it will become sticky and sag. Remove the mixture from the bowl and knead for a further 10 minutes. It is best to leave the dough to rest for 30 minutes in an air tight container.

By adding 1 tablespoon on vegetable oil you will add suppleness to the dough or 1 tablespoon of wallpaper paste for elasticity.

Model the dough into desired shapes and bake at 120 deg C or 250 deg F until completely hard all over. It is important to place the finished craft objects in a dry atmosphere and not in a steamy or damp area as they may deteriorate. The dough crafts can be left natural, painted and varnished or the dough can colored with food coloring before baking. Anything that is heatproof can be used, such as broken china but do keep an eye on the kids near the oven.
